Marvelous Antique Chinese Table Screen composed of 3 pieces, hand carved Rosewood, & a mirror. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, no outstanding flaws just normal aging. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. This Chinese Table Screen is fit for a QUEEN!!! Or a King for that matter!!! WOW!!! That’s right, this is a gorgeous Antique Chinese Table screen composed of 3 pieces of intricately hand carved Rosewood and a lovely mirror. The round top mirror is one piece. It slides down into the second piece which is basically a U shaped rocker atop the ornately decorative center stand with legs. This center stand connects into the 3rd piece, which is a base stand, also with legs. The two base pieces can face forward or reverse so it bears a bit of esthetic versatility. It features FANTASTIC foliate décor surrounding the mirror and the center stand. Table screens emerged and became prominent during the Ming Dynasty era and were considered a distinct, refined subtype to folding screens. They were placed on scholar’s desks for privacy while adding a pleasing aesthetic while working. Also, for degree of separation within open-plan spaces & homes, shielding from dust & breezes, and representing intellectual curiosity, quiet contemplation, harmony, and inspiration. There are many versions of the Chinese Table screen, some featuring materials such as hardstones like jade & marble, precious metals, or a wonderful painting rather than a mirror. This one would be wonderful utilized as a vanity mirror, in your bedroom dressing area, or sitting on a table among foliage & artwork, or simply standing solo on a table in an entry, This piece is ideal for any room that could use a splash of sophisticated Chinese representation and artistic contemplation. It’s EXACTLY what the designer ordered! You simply MUST have it! Make it YOURS!!!
