Rare Large Signed Ercole Barovier Pink Murano Glass & Brass Vanity Mirror 1940s

About the Item

We are extremely proud to be able to offer this absolutely stunning, large and very rare Italian oversized Mid-Century brass and pink twisted 'rope' pink Murano glass vanity, desk or table mirror manufactured and signed by Ercole Barovier for Barovier e Toso Murano, Venice, Italy, circa 1940s. The design and build quality is absolutely stunning - extremely high quality and incredibly rare to find this in pink Murano glass and original mirror in fantastic condition for age (see condition report below for full details) - we have never seen one of this size in pink Murano glass - normally these are found in clear glass and, even those, are extremely hard to find. Perfect for the Hollywood Regency style, there is no better combination than gold colour of aged, patinated brass with the pink Murano glass with gold dust inclusions for the opulent, decadent and luxurious look of the Hollywood Regency style. This mirror would pair well with tables by Karl Springer, Willy Daro or Paul Evans for example. Full dimensions: Pink Murano glass frame outside edges to outside edge; Height - 47cm Width at top - 41 Width at bottom - 30cm Thickness of frame circa 4.5cm Condition report - excellent condition for age - age related patina to the brass (can be repolished, if desired). Original mirror in excellent condition baring two small areas of missing mirrored coating - one shown in image #17. The other area is actually behind the brass rim and can only be seen when up very close and from a particular sideways angle. Glass is undamaged - you will notice in image #16 that the two sides are slightly different thicknesses, but this is purely from the manufacturing process and quite typical with these mirrors. You will also notice that, on the ride side, there is a small area of polished glass - this is also from original production to make the glass fit within the brass frame - see image #19 for comparison. All parts have been carefully removed and delicately cleaned before reassembling before photography. Please note that the mirror will be disassembled before packing and shipping to ensure that it arrives undamaged. We will send instructions with photographs to ensure that reassembling the mirror is easily done. This is your very rare opportunity to become the new custodian of this absolutely stunning and rare Murano Mirror. If you would like to have the brass re-polished, please contact us before ordering.
