About the Item

In Scandinavian mid-century design, there was an early emphasis on wood as it connected everyday objects, such as furniture to nature. This pine table mirror is a textbook example of Nordic Modern, with a functional, cosy design. Clean lines, functional technical solutions, and a neutral colour palette are the hallmarks of this modernist mirror. The sculptural, boomerang-shaped legs hold the mirror that is secured to them by wooden bolts. The legs’ stability is reinforced by a pair of parallel stretchers. Apart from the mirror’s glass, the entire body is made of wood, including the joinery, providing an organic feel. The mirror has a rectangular shape, with a generous frame that can be adjusted freely. In Scandinavia, the design of the era was heavily influenced by the Nordic region’s desire for interiors to be cosy yet bright, which is evident in the pine wood’s light but rich colour, and the openness of the design. Still, this mirror’s core design principle is focused on the simple but clever form that is highly functional with a clear fondness for the light colour and simple beauty of the material.
