About the Item

Scandinavian design is a distinctive style that represents a design philosophy guided by functionality, simplicity and clean lines. The stylishly upholstered design of these chairs is in favour of the user, maintaining the focus on authentic simplicity. Designed in the early phase of what we know today as mid-century modern, this pair of lounge chairs is a delicacy with a unique look. With a classic shape paired with modern design elements, this model combines the best design characteristics of the 1940s. The large, enveloping backrests dictate the shape of these chairs, as they visually form most of the structure. The curvature creates an inviting and open look, enhanced by the unique dark upholstery. The large seats add a lot of volume to the design, keeping it grounded and cosy. The sculpted conical legs in the front are a pleasant touch complementing the curved shape of the chairs, while the tapered back legs add straight lines to the otherwise round edges. The warm brown colour of the stained beech provides the organicity that is essential in mid-century Scandinavian design and stands out against the luxurious upholstery. The exciting texture manifests greatly on the curving bodies showcasing how a well-chosen fabric can elevate Scandinavian mid-century design even further. Master cabinetmakers were highly aware of body proportions, prioritizing comfort just as much as the visual qualities, therefore this pair of lounge chairs provide ample support for the back and great sitting comfort as well.
