Set or Pair of Queen Anne Styled English Burl Walnut Trumeau Mirrors
About the Item
Walnut and burl walnut with gilt highlights looking glasses. The scalloped crest with a carved centralized shell. Each with a floral painted on board , inset above lightly distressed mirror plates.
A hard to find pair or set in the style of the 18th century looking glasses . The central arched upper frame above a distressed rectangular plate with recessed outer border frame.A centered carved shell shape set in the cresting. An inner frame in worn gilt surrounds the mirror plate in each .
Restrained presence ,as opposed to say French trumeau of same period . Perhaps somewhat more scarce than the later Georgian gilded versions .
Nice warm color and patina. Attractive floral panels with
Wood backs . Old shellac finish. Craquelure to painted florals. Veneer wrinkles or cracks at some joints
