18th Century, Italian Rectangular Mirror with Carved and Giltwood Frame

About the Item

18th century, Italian rectangular mirror with carved and giltwood frame North Italy (Turin), mid-18th century The mirror, made in north Italy (Turin) in the mid-18th century, has a rectangular wood frame, composed of three concentric sections. The external part, in carved and giltwood, have some foliate motifs in the corners and in the centre of each side. The inner part, also gilded, has a carving with foliate motifs that runs consequentially on all sides. The central section has applications of original mercury mirrors interrupted by 8 bas-reliefs in giltwood in the shape of a flower. Two of these mirrors were replaced in the 19th century. The central mirror was also replaced in the 19th century. The fine mirror, very decorative, can be presented both vertically and horizontally thanks to the perfect symmetry of the carvings, and can be placed in any room of your home where it will give a lot of brightness and elegance. Its small size also allows the insertion into a modern apartment, over a dresser or a console. Good state of preservation. Subject with "Certificate of Authenticity".
