18th century Louis XV Style Italian Gilt Mirror, Original Glass, CA. 1740
About the Item
Beautiful richly carved and gilded mirror Beautiful proportions.
This is a work of expertise as evident by the quality of the abundant, deep and openwork and closed work frame. This is a typical Rocaille style, from the early and middle 18th Century. There is an abandonment of perfect symmetry and an abundance deep carving.
The mercury glass mirror is original. There is no evidence or restoration to the piece. There are very minor losses to the gilding. The mercury glass is original showing loss and slightly pitted.
