About the Item

An exquisite high-class Rococo mirror made in Stockholm in the 1760s. The frame is intricately carved and adorned with 30 faceted lenses, set in a gilded frame. The gilding is made with genuine gold leaf in various hues, depending on the karat. The original gilding has been enhanced. The central glass is two-part and facet-cut mercury glass. The upper and lower sections are richly carved with typical Rococo shell motifs. The back of the mirror features the early round Stockholm hallmark stamp.
