Crafted in France circa 1860 in the refined Louis XVI style and standing an impressive 5.5 feet tall, the arched frame is crowned with an intricately carved crest featuring a classical cartouche-shaped shield flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves and draped floral garlands. A delicate beaded trim surrounds the original mirror plate, bordered by a laurel leaf motif along the outer edge.
The hand-applied gold leaf finish has developed a soft, timeworn patina, with minor wear consistent with age. Retaining its original mercury glass and wood backing, the mirror reflects the fine craftsmanship of the 19th century and possesses a commanding presence.
