19th Century French Louis XV Carved and Arched Giltwood Beveled Mantel Mirror
About the Item
Dress a mantel with this elegant antique gilt mirror. Crafted in Paris, France circa 1890, and over 4.5 feet tall, the antique mirror with arched and serpentine top is decorated at the pediment with a large hand carved shell cartouche in high relief, and embellished with foliage motifs on both sides. The thick frame with geometric decor throughout is further dressed with beaded trim around the glass, and embellished with pierced decorative acanthus leaves at the bottom corners. The Louis XV style mirror is in excellent condition with the original encased beveled glass plate, and adorns the original patinated gold leaf finish. Versatile, this elegant and heavily carved mirror could also be placed over a buffet in a dining room, a console in an entry or in a powder room. Weight 41 pounds.
