19th Century Italian Louis XVI Painted and Gilded Mirror

About the Item

19th Century Italian Louis XVI Painted & Gilded Mirror was designed in an unusual vertical orientation with a narrow width that makes it ideal for special applications in a room. Featuring its original painted finish that has achieved a lovely patina over the past century, its pastel tones include a very subtle olive green highlighted with patinaed gold. The boldly arched crown and symmetrically designed base are lavished with hand-carved crest, floral and acanthus foliate motifs, with floral sprays cascading down the shoulders above. Beading and a repeating fletching border continue around the entire frame which surrounds the original beveled mirror. Imagine the dozens of places a design with such dimensions can be placed throughout the home! Circa 1890s Measures 51H x 18W x 5D
