About the Item
A beautifully carved gilt wood framed oval mirror French, circa 1840, gilt frame carved with an egg and dart design alternating with convex fillets and an inner gilded beaded loop. At the top the frame is decorated by a large cartouche featuring a pair of turtle doves backed by a bow, a quiver with arrows , a flaming torch garlands flowers and acorns. The corresponding bottom section of the frame has a simpler cartouche centered around acanthus leaves bordered by roses other flowers and leaves. The frame has been completely r4estored and regilded. The mirror is backed by original wood inserts. Mirror itself is a new replacement.
