About the Item
Fantastic antique cushion mirror, also known as a repousse mirror, facet-cut mirror from the latter part of the 19th century, circa 1880, also called the Belle Epoque period, France.
The central facet-cut mirror has 4 panels all around in relief, giving this mirror a three-dimensional effect. It has decorative acanthus scrolls, shell-shaped ornaments, flowers and rocaille patterns made of hammered brass, on the original pine base.
The result is an elegant and charming mirror with a high collector's value, the brass has a very nice age patina, the original mirror glass is also decoratively spotted and beautifully weathered, which is sought after by real antique lovers. This type of oxidation is often found in very old mirrors and is very desirable.
This cushion mirror is in very good antique condition appropriate to its age, the original cardboard back wall is missing, but otherwise it is in completely complete and very charming condition, check the photos for more details!

Large antique narrow gilded mirror from the 19th century, completely in classical baroque style, France circa 1870.
The mirror still has its original mirror plate that is decoratively weathered and mocked, which is very desirable, the frame is decorated with acanthus leaves all around, mainly decorated very ornately at the top and bottom, unfortunately the mirror was once painted over with gold paint, which does damage the authenticity somewhat, under the paint is the original gold leaf. The back of the mirror is finished with planks, as was customary at that time.
A nice extra is that the planks on the back are covered with antique French newspapers...
