Antique mid 19th century Gold leaf gilt French Louis Philippe floral Mirror
About the Item
Presented here is a beautifully richly decorated antique mirror, which was made in southern France in the mid-19th century, around 1850. The mirror has rounded upper corners, characteristic of the French Louis Philippe style. At the highest point of the frame, the mirror is richly adorned with beautifully detailed ornaments. These floral garlands depict roses, daisies, and leaves. The straight bottom rail of the mirror frame is typical of a mirror placed above a mantelpiece. The mirror has been fully gilded with gold leaf and patinated. Over the years, the mirror frame has developed a beautiful patina. We have replaced the mirror glass with a new thick mirror plate. The mirror glass is set in a handsome solid pine paneled back, authentic to the mirror. The mirror is now sturdy, clean, without defects, and ready for use.
