Atlas Mirror by Bower & Seth Rogen, Mirrored Glass, Enamel Paint, and Walnut
About
After discussing mutual interests and points of inspiration, ranging from midcentury to street art to the airbrushed hypercolors found in 1980s pop culture, Brooklyn studio Bower and actor Seth Rogen developed Atlas: a circular mirror comprising longitudinal sections of mirrored glass that create the visual effect of a three-dimensional sphere. Wedge-shaped sections of mirror are separated by large gaps, revealing a substrate beneath that was hand-painted by New York sign artist Jasper Patch. Once the mirrored sections are added, the gradated color pops through, adding a vibrant dimensionality to the piece. Commissioned by Sight Unseen for Field Studies, a benefit exhibition at Sight Unseen Offsite 2018. Net proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to Hilarity for Charity, which brings support to those affected by Alzheimer's.
