Emil Stejnar Oval Wall Mirror with 200+ Backlit Austrian Crystals
About the Item
Stunningly beautiful backlit oval wall mirror with a halo of over 200 crystals dispersing the light extraordinarily. Designed and made in 1950s Austria by Emil Steiner and Rupert Nikoll respectively.
The piece is constructed of an oval steel plate, painted white, and with the outer edges cut into strips and bent into curves of varying steepness away from the wall. At the end of each white strip of steel is affixed a 10-pointed star-shaped crystal. The fixing is with a small metal sphere in the centre of the star, giving it the appearance of a small flower on an arcing stem.
The glass of the mirror is offset from the wall and backing plate giving the appearance of floating inside the halo of crystals. In between the mirrored glass and the backing plate is the lighting mechanism. Beautiful both on and off. However, when on, the crystals gloriously catch and reflect the light coming from behind the mirrored glass.
