Exceptional Antique Gustavian Style Carved And Painted Oval Mirror
About the Item
Large and impressive time-worn Gustavian Style Mirror in a Pale Grey and Gilt Paint finish. The dish form surround in off white paint with an outer band of gilt acanthus leaves, the wide inner one with foliate scrolls. A thin gilt border in the center with low relief leaves. The whole made in sections. Fully beveled mirror glass is not original and was replaced at an earlier time.
The two legs shown belong to the chest that was used to photograph the mirror and are not part of the mirror.
Dimensions: 45” wide by 38” high by 4.5” deep.
Condition: There is a stable pronounced segment crack to the left-side facing (see photo) , stable finish splits with some expected wear and losses to the paint and gilt which do not detract from the authentic and very fine presentation.
