Exceptional Massive Antique Carved, Gessoed And Gilt Mirror With Painted Panel
About the Item
With an overall foliate scrolled frame. The open fan form crest over a painted mirror cartouche panel with a basket of colorful flowers reminiscent of the type of subject seen in Theorem Stencil Painting. The outer surround with large scrolls decorated with flowers at the top corners, smaller ones in the lower corners, flanking the scrolled terminal with a shield. A wide inner dotted surround with foliate scrolled panels alternating with plain shaped ones.
Dimensions: H. 70", W. 50", Depth 7"
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age include expected loses to the gilt in places but minor, chip to the top of the crest, discolored and crack to the gilt lower left corner join, gesso losses, some spot losses to the mirror surface, all mentioned for accuracy as the Mirror retains a commanding and majestic presentation.
