About the Item

18th century Rococo Swedish gilt-wood mirror with mirror frame and the Northern Star. In It's original finish and mirror glass with good patination. Ca 1760 Stockholm, Sweden. Very rare example due to the craftsmanship, size and the Northern Star. The Northern Star was used from the end of the 17th century as a symbol of the Swedish king Karl XII. And during the 18th century, it also symbolised Swedish research and wit.
