About the Item

Exceptional Swedish Stockholm-produced Rococo Mirror circa 1760 Large Mirror in Rococo style. Gilded. Decorated with papier-mâché rocailles and acanthus. Two-part faceted and mercury-foiled original glass. Has a lacquer-stamped on right side on the original back side. This was most likely the maker's mark. Centuries of dusting and care have worn away much of the gold gilding, and the patina is what truly gives this mirror its distinctive character.
