Federal New York Pier Mirror, Late 18th Century

About the Item

This Classic Greek and Egyptian motif mirror has vertical pillars flanking mirror panels framing the central split looking glass. The cornice of the mirror has a Classic Adams Urn on plinth with a rosette flanked by matching Adams Urns draped in balls. The four pillars are cluster reeded with Papyrus Capitals. This neoclassical mirror has a beautiful warm gilt finish.

Condition:
Replacements made: two central mirror plates. Wear consistent with age and use. The two central mirror plates are early twenty century replacements. There has been an artist board put on the back in the early 20th century when the two mirror plates where replace. There is a few chips to the gilt and some retoration to the gilt.
