French 18th century Louis XIV Period Giltwood mirror
About the Item
A high quality and monumentally scaled French 18th century Louis XIV Period Giltwood mirror, in the manner of Jean Berain. The central beveled mirror plate of this stunning mirror is framed by an outer mirror plate decorated with delicately carved Giltwood foliate scrolled borders with palmette reserves. Large palmettes adorn the four corners, which are accented with pierced foliate scrolls. Above is the striking scalloped top crown with its original mirror plate centered at the top by an exquisite intricately detailed large palmette surrounded by foliate scrolls, floral blooms, and most charming pairs of dolphins with intertwined tails.
