About the Item
A French nicely carved giltwood mirror from the 19th century. This antique rectangular-shaped mirror from France features beautifully decorative, Rococo style, three-dimensionally carved leafy scrolls, set within the surround, framed with a flat exterior molding. The mirror's surround is gesso over gilded wood, gold with remnants of old paint, nicely aged with small areas of chipping, and antiqued glass center. This 19th century French mirror, with it's gilded and curling leaves, stands just over 3.5 feet in height, and would be a lovely option adorning the wall above an entry foyer or bedroom commode.

A French rectangular mirror, with carved and painted wood surround, from the 19th century. This antique mirror from France has a rectangular-shaped mirrored glass center, with nicely carved wood frame featuring a curled acanthus leaf and shell at top/center, just above the upper cornice which is comprised of a straight/linear molding. The sides and bottom are framed with decorative trim molding with foliage accents. The top and bottom mirror surround have thicker boards extending outward, creating more length to the piece. The glass mirror (not original) is beveled. The wood frame is primarily soft gold tones along the trim, with flat board in a gray/blue with nice areas of wear and patina.
