George II Style Giltwood Mirror

About the Item

20th Century Georgian-Style Giltwood Mirror. This tall mirror is rectangular in shape with frame molded with foliate scrolls, surmounted by a broken arch pediment, a hallmark of high Georgian design. The pediment flanks a central carved cartouche with acanthus leaves and rocaille flourishes including a shell ornament at center bottom. Beaded and gadrooned molding along inner side. Mirror is classically used over a fireplace mantel, but looks ideal as a dramatic first impression in a formal entryway, hung over a console table, at the end of a hallway or staircase, or above a dresser.
