About the Item

A Georgian, Chippendale design mahogany and parcel-gilt fretwork wall mirror or pier-glass, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. This wall mirror with mahogany veneered fretwork frame, an oblong mirror plate with a gilt inner border, the crested top centred by Hoho bird cartouche, and shaped apron. Back fitted with chain for hanging. Original mirror plate with small yet pleasing amount of foxing. An attractive mirror, in good condition, well presented and ready for use. Dimensions: This frame measures approximately 99.5 cm (39.125") tall, 56.5 cm (22.25") wide, and 4 cm (1.75") deep. The mirror glass measures 58 cm (22.75") by 38 cm (15.125"). Condition: Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This frame is in a good condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally sound. Some minor marks and blemishes on the frame. A fine scratch on the crest part of the frame. A small loss of a piece of fret tip to the bottom right side of the frame. A little overpainting of the gilt. Glass is original with a little foxing. Well presented. Cleaned and waxed, ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
