About the Item
Louis Philippe, the last king of France, offered a stark contrast from his predecessors, who were known for their lavish lifestyles and opulent displays of wealth. This unpretentious style is reflected in the furniture that was crafted during his reign, specifically mirrors. Louis Philippe mirrors are known for their soft, supple lines with subtle decor, although our beveled mirror with foliate and floral décor is slightly more embellished than the usual.
As with most Louis Philippe style mirrors, the top corners of the frame are rounded. A thin cavetto molding graces the outside edges of the frame. There is another layer of cavetto closer to the interior that is flanked by foliate and floral motifs over textured backgrounds. The beveled mirror adds to the restrained elegance of the frame.
