Italian 18th Century Rococo Period Giltwood Mirror
About the Item
A spectacular and extremely high quality Italian 18th century Rococo period giltwood mirror. The mirror retains its original mirror plate set within the stunning intricately detailed giltwood frame. The frame displays an impressive central mask at the base flanked by beautiful curved foliate feet with personages at each side seemingly holding up the frame. Lovely urn shaped designs and richly carved vine leaves and grape clusters lead upwards amidst large scrolled movements. The stunning top crown displays an outstanding family crest with the Fleur de Lys set on a hammered background centered by beautiful maidens at each side looking at themselves in a handheld mirror amidst large scrolled acanthus leaves. Above is a superb woven basket with abundant finely detailed grapes and vine leaves. All original gilt throughout.
