Italian Late 18th Century Louis XV St. Giltwood Mirror from Naples
About the Item
A sensational Italian late 18th century Louis XV st. giltwood mirror from Naples. The original central mirror plate is framed within an elegant mottled beaded border with finely detailed and most charming flowers and a foliate reserve at the bottom. Lovely foliate movements lead out to beautiful scrolled feet adorned with large acanthus leaves. Richly carved branches with leaves and flowers are seemingly growing up the mirror leading to impressive tapered architectural elements at each side. The striking top crown is centered by its original mirror plate framed within additional richly carved foliate and floral designs. All original gilt and mirror plates throughout.
