Large Scottish Carved Pine Mirror

About the Item

This very large and impressive mirror is typical of the early Victorian period. The deeply carved frames design elements include flowers, grape clusters, shell work, stylized acanthus leaves and a very nice inner border of gadrooning. The frame is unusual in that usually pine work would have been gessoed and gilt. Lastly note that original plate glass is intact as is the all wood backing. This mirror was bought in the late 70,s in London from the shop "Guinevere".
