Large Transitional Louis XV-XVI Parcel-Gilt & Cream-painted Mirror, c. 1760

About the Item

A large Louis XV-XVI Transitional period Mirror, with Cream-painted & Parcel-Gilt frame. Dating from the third quarter of the 1700s, and French in origin. The mirror of imposing size, and with finely-carved scroll & foliate designs throughout. At top, a Cabochon design centers the carved crest, with raised grape-vine designs decorated in gilt against the cream background. The frame surrounding the original mirror plate, a single piece in rectangular form.
