About the Item

Mid-Century French ceramic decorative mirror attributed to Atelier Les Cyclades, Anduze, France (Circa 1960s-1970s). A contemporary of Mithé Espelt and François Lembo, Joseph Zobel created this ceramic frame with inset enamel decorative shapes to form this compact, colourful, square mirror. The glass centre is enclosed by broader concentric square frames, each which has the effect of visually enlarging the charming mirror overall. On appearances, the piece has a homespun craftsman's quality about it, yet, at the same time, there is a subtle sophistication as well. The mirror would be a delightful addition to your home or work space - certainly a conversation piece as well. In very good overall condition consistent with age and usage. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided. About Atelier Les Cyclades: Started by Roland Zobel, a native of Martinique and son of famous author, Joseph Zobel, he was credited with the rebirth of pottery production in Anduze, France, which had a history of pottery-making beginning in 1610. First with Atelier Les Cyclades, then later with Poterie de la Madeleine, Zobel was most famous for his ceramic sunburst mirrors. It was rare that a piece was signed Les Cyclades however, their style is unmistakable. Zobel died suddenly in 2004. Dimensions: H 20 cm / 7.9" W 20 cm / 7.9" D 2 cm / 0.8"
