About the Item

Very nice example of a tramp art frame, mirror, made in the 1890s in Germany. This frame is fully hand-carved, out of basswood, typical for this frames of this time. The frame is designed in overlapping ends. The wooden strips are in a log look - this was all hand-carved. The surface of basswood ist stained in a warm brown and varnished. The substructure of spruce is overlapping, so it is an old construction. The mirror plate is renewed. Measurements approx.: height 28,94 in - 73,5 cm, width 24,01 in - 61 cm, depth 1,18 in - 3 cm The inner measurements approx.: height 19,69 in - 50 cm, width 14,96 in - 38 cm The frame of the mirror has a metal suspension, so an immediate wall installation is possible.
