Mirror Wall Brass Repousse Baroque Flemish Lion Mask Acanthus Scroll Flowerhead
About the Item
The central bevelled original plate with some foxing surrounded by a stylized border of acorns and flowerheads. Surrounded by four canted, bevelled sections of original mirror plate with foxing divided by single acanthus leaf ornament and surrounded by a stylized leaf border. The edge faced with a wooden batten retaining traces of gilding. The original cresting with central lion mask surrounded by scrollwork and flowerheads. The carcass pine. The back with three iron braces supporting the cresting and a large plate protecting the mirror plate, probably 19th century.
