Monumental Mirror and Console Table by Ilana Goor, 1980s
About the Item
A monumental mirror and console table by Ilana Goor. The mirror and console table are constructed out of concrete reinforcing bars with natural verdigris finish. The bronze bird and cat create a whimsical and organic modern design. The mirror and table would look great in any interior. Structurally sound with age-appropriate wear. New glass is necessary. In the manner of Alberto and Diego Giacometti. The table and mirror are labeled "Ilana Goor", as shown in the images. $799 shipping to all 48 states. $349 curbside to all locations within a 150-mile radius of Hamburg, PA. All other shipping is negotiable depending on your location.
From the LA Times in 1989: "Says Goor: 'My pieces look organic, as if they’re growing. Everything is a little asymmetrical.' She embellishes her pieces with spookily realistic bronze birds, frogs, snails, turtles, rabbits, pigeons, eagles, cats and dogs. They mimic the creatures who would congregate on her terrace in the morning. As the sun rose in the sky and the day grew hotter, the animals would leave to seek shade. Missing them, she sculpted substitutes."
