Pebble mirror uses the traditional woodworking technique of bent-lamination to preserve the beauty of twisted wood and preserve tension into a solid object. The undulating thin and thick frame is delicately hand-carved by the artist from fifty sheets of wood veneer. Its poetic flow is rooted in timeless East Asian Aesthetics. The form is designed to be reminiscent of a pebble that has been shaped perfectly smooth by the elements. 'Pebble mirror' by Soo Joo is an organic wall mirror with a sculptural wooden bent-laminated frame. It has a beauty that is not affected by changing trends, and can be enjoyed for decades. The sculptural mirror fits into any interior, with its natural wooden material and its distilled form, elevating the space. Soo Joo's work uses natural materials that have a long history with mankind, which makes them visually comfortable and soothing. The artist creatively reimagines the essence of traditional Korean aesthetics into a modern context.
