Painted Spanish Mirror
About the Item
A large and beautifully hand crafted painted mirror.
This large scale mirror has a wooden frame with a hand molded lead overlay which has been shaped along the boarder of the mercury plate. The frame has then been hand painted in grey and navy colours portraying flowers and a symmetrical pattern to the boarder.
The mercury plate shows areas of foxing which only adds to the appeal of this unique and wonderful mirror.
The mirror from the Catalonia region hung in a boutique hotel before it found its way into our collection.
A superb and highly decorative mirror that can be hung in both portrait and landscape formats.

Carved in birch and giltwood, the generously padded back is crested with striking volutes, leafage and a central clam shell.
Each end of the scrolling arms is decorated with a gilded double volute form.
The sofa is completed in silk and decorative trim.
