About the Item
A monumental and palatially scaled pair of Italian 18th century Louis XV period Mecca mirrors, from Naples. The exceptional pair of double framed mirrors displays all of their original mirror plates and Mecca throughout. The border displays fine fluted patterns and a superb scalloped shaped base, centered by a scrolled foliate reserve, and foliate garlands that extend up each side while being supported on scrolling acanthus leaf designed feet. Wonderful scrolled foliate and floral movements with a fluted design lead up to the majestic top crown centered by a most decorative mirror plate below richly carved flowers. All original Mecca and mirror plates throughout.
