About the Item
An exquisite and extremely decorative pair of Italian mid 18th century Baroque Period Giltwood mirrored sconces. Each wonderful Venetian st. two arm sconce has an etched mirror plate, one displaying the Greek god of the sea Neptune, and the other with his wife Amphitrite. Neptune and Amphitrite are surrounded by scrolled foliate garlands while above them are upholstered canopies. Each Giltwood frame displays elegant pierced foliate side decorations lead to the fanciful and pierced foliate reserves above. At the bottom of the frames are the original removable Gilt Metal and Giltwood scrolled arms decorated with leaves and candle cups. All original gilt throughout.
