About the Item
Sculptural Mirror D by Alexandra Madirazza
Dimensions: W 90 x D 5 x H 190 cm.
Materials: Marble, Mirror.
The sculptural mirrors are made from leftover marble - no two stones will ever be the same. They will vary in size, color, and surface. The mirror part itself is basically the same, but this too can be changed as desired.
Alexandra is an architect, but for the past 5 years she has been self-employed with the company Atelier
Madirazza, where she primarily works with sculptures. Her greatest interest is art dialogue with the room and vice versa.
In the borderland between art, architecture and design, she works with culptures that relate to
the surroundings or which causes the viewer to take a physical position in relation to it.
The sculptural mirrors Alexandra makes are an attempt at this. Two large pieces of marble in front of the mirror are brutal and poetic at the same time, but also a provocation - because their shapes shadow the reflection of the body. In that case you want to see yourself, you have to navigate after the stones and a dialogue occurs. You feel the room, the mirror and yourself.
Each mirror is unique. With a focus on the environment, the different stones are carefully selected from the pile of ”residual material” at stoneware in Denmark, after which they are cut and reassembled.
In addition to the mirrors, Alexandra works with steel and concrete – materials that meet her desire to create works that are site-specific. Finally, she has developed and investigated organic movements in her ceramic vases and wall vases. These can in addition to being able to accommodate flowers, also be experienced as sculptures in themselves and with the curled wall vase on the wall, a nice small room within a room is created – a break in everyday life.
On a daily basis, Alexandra works in her studio in Skodsborg, has a showroom in Frederiksberg and is represented by the gallery Boon Room in Paris.

Galerie Philia
Galerie Philia is an international contemporary sculptural design and art gallery representing emerging and established designers and artists. The gallery is the brainchild of two brothers who share a lifetime passion for art, literature and philosophy. Their distinct academic background sets them apart from their peers, as it sees them following a rhizomatic and transcultural approach in the way they select works. This involves combining elements from multiple cultures in what becomes a network of harmoniously interconnected roots, ultimately revealing the beauty of each unique creation. The gallery’s non-hierarchical curation sits apart from the ephemerality of trends and focuses instead on the true aesthetic quality of the piece – alluring and timeless. Unlike others, Galerie Philia does not focus on a single style – whether minimalist, organic or raw – but rather embraces heterogeneity. The Galerie Philia takes pride in discovering new talents, providing them with multiple international platforms to showcase their latest creations. As well as propelling the newest generation of 21st century collectible design, Galerie Philia also works with internationally known design artists. Galerie Philia has a strong international presence, with galleries in Geneva, New York and Singapore. In addition to their permanent spaces, the gallery organizes temporary group exhibitions and artists residencies in first-class locations around the world.

- Alan S. Kushner Studio Craft Sculptural Wall MirrorLocated in Hanover, MACustom woodwork decorative wall mirror created by artist Alan S. Kushner of Philadelphia circa 1990. Signed "AK" carved on back of bottom triangle. Overall dimensions: 72 inches high by 46 inches wide by 5 inches deep. Framed mirror dimensions: 46 inches high by 24 inches wide by 5 inches deep. Please note that the artist's intention was for the mirror to be displayed with the zebra wood arrow on the bottom pointing downward and the 'fishtail' on top. We know this because on the backside of the mirror are two wedge cut blocks for mounting in a corresponding wall bracket or Z clip. For the purposes of our photography it was not possible to stand the mirror on the point so all our photos show it upside down. Alan Kushner (1949-2008) was a self-taught woodworker and furniture maker who exhibited his designs primarily in and around Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland during the 1980's and 1990's. In 1991 he participated in the summer exhibition "In Our Circle" at the James Michener...Category
