People who don't know about antiques in general and Arts and Crafts in particular will see 'just another mirror in a wooden frame'. Collectors and enthousiasts will immediately recognize the wood as coromandel and this stunning woodtype with its great grain patterns currently is one of the most expensive woods in the world. This hardwood is from a very slow growing tree that will not grow tall nor thick. Moreover, since circa 2010 it can no longer be chopped / mined and therefor too the price of coromandel has sky-rocketed. The combination of this stunning, antique coromandel and the pure, Dutch Arts and Crafts design of this wall mirror frame is what takes it to the next level. The subtle Arts and Crafts design of the corners of this mirror combined with the ever so subtle carvings that mark the transition to the long sides of its frame, truly are a joy to behold. The top class wooden frame is near-mint and therefor museum worthy, the original mirror has some minor fading (consistent with its age) and together they make this unique antique one of the most stylish and aesthetically beautiful mirrors that you will ever be able to buy.
