Vintage English Grand Phoenix Chippendale Style Mirror Gold Baroque Rococo 80"
About the Item
A Magnificent Chippendale Mirror in 18th century manner. the Grand Chippendale mirror is impressive in size at 80". Finished in patinated gold with a dramatic frame of pierced Rococo C scrolls, scalloping and foliate. The Phoenix, or Ho Ho Bird by the English reference, is cresting the top of the frame. A symbol taken from the Dynasties of ancient Egypt. The Bird is a mysterious creature with a long beak, curved neck, flowing tail and claws. A Phoenix was typical on Chippendale furniture and mirror frame design of the period symbolizing the prominence of 18th Century England. The Grand Chippendale Mirror dates to the second half of the 20th century.
