Mid-Century Bed Brazier with Handle

About the Item

Antique bed brazier with handle. The object has a brass metal container with a lid decorated in relief with floral and fruit motifs. The lid has small holes for the controlled release of heat. The long handle, made of dark wood, allows the piece to be held and handled safely. To use it, embers were placed inside the container, which was then passed under the sheets to warm the bed. This type of utensil was common until the 20th century, before electric heaters became popular. The piece shows signs of ageing, such as patina on the metal and marks on the wood. Today, it is valued as a decorative or collector's item, representing a time when simple methods were used to ensure thermal comfort.
