19th Century Italian Empire Period Flamed Walnut Two Sleigh Beds or Daybeds

About the Item

These two exceptional Italian 19th century Empire period sleigh beds dating back to 1790-1830 were sourced in Lucca, Tuscany. The beds, that can serve also as a daybeds or settee, show a sophisticated execution sign of high quality cabinet making. The beds are made of the most precious Italian flamed walnut wood. The beauty of the wood is enhanced with expert book-matching and through the play of the various grains and veins that are visible throughout on all sides so they can be the focal point of any room also as free standing centrepiece. This beds' aesthetic is inspired by the ideals of ancient Greek and Roman furniture popularized during the Empire, Regency an Federal period. Their unique distinctive trait is the line featuring out-scrolled shaped headboard and footboard ending in a wide curl to form a sleek and elegant design. These Exquisite and vibrant flamed walnut wood beds boast an outstanding original patina and are supported by four tall bun feet with their original casters. An exquisite classical and timeless piece of furniture which can furnish both the bedroom, the living room or even the study room or office. Since it's very rare to find antique beds of this quality in pairs we prefer to sell them as a set but the sale of just one can be taken into consideration upon request. French 19th Century Empire Porcelain and Gilt Bronze Decorative Jewelry Box
Located in Firenze, IT
This French Empire 19th century rectangular porcelain dresser box or jewlery decorative casket has a wonderfully patinated powder blue/cerulean light blue background color and features grotesque masks, architectural vase, fruit, flowers and leafy scrolled design throughout painted as a trompe l’oeil in the round. Ormolu mounts enrich the whole box. The paintings on this casket are striking as is the color palette used, a wonderful mix of light purple, cream, blue and soft brown. The lid is centered by a grotesque mask inspired by antiquity. The front, back and sides are profusely decorated with architectural elements, cartouches and volutes. The design is centered by a vase with a fruit arrangement that appear to be plums. The decoration could refer to the allegory of autumn and the mask painted on the lid could refer to Bacchus. Both the color of the porcelain and the paintings are very unusual and a sign of high quality and uniqueness. The box was most probably given to a high-ranking lady as a gift on the occasion of her marriage, or perhaps after the birth of a child. The lidded box is fitted with ormolu mounts, hinges and clasp. A gilt bronze band finelly chiseled in the form of a rope adorns the upper part. The trinket box rests on four gilt bronze lion paw feet. This striking French porcelain box...
