Decorative Italian Queen Bed in Ash with Storage Trays
About the Item
Queen bed, ash, glass, brass, Italy, 1950s
Queen bed with two integrated side tables. The shape of the headboard features a dynamic design with slightly curved sides and shell-like design. Vertical lines with little brass nails structure the headboard in different parts that shorten towards the outside. On a volute rests a semicircular glass plate functioning as a storage tray. The high footboard is slightly bent inwards and forms a harmonious end of the bed. Tapered legs with brass feet lift the bed up and add lightness and additional elegance to the design. The elegance and delicate choice of forms reminds of the early designs of Osvaldo Borsani.
Please note that this item is in good, used condition with signs of age and use. The bed contains scratches, some loose veneer, and small damages. Restoration is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized restoration is possible as well.

Sun at six is a contemporary furniture design studio working with traditional Chinese joinery masters to handcraft our pieces using traditional joinery. Great furniture begins with quality materials: raw, sustainably sourced wood, our house-made finishes developed with years of testing, and full-grain, vegetable-tanned leathers that patina with age. We work to bring out the natural character already present in our materials.
People matter to us. We source leather from with a family-owned tannery in Italy, and work with traditional Chinese joinery masters, who hand build each piece of furniture using fading, ancient joinery techniques.
