A lovely 1920s French Art Deco marble-top gilt bronze mounted mahogany inlaid nightstand. Born in France in the early 20th century, crafted in elegant Louis XVI taste with luxurious period Art Deco influence, featuring stunning matched mahogany parquetry, kingwood and ebony banding, and mother-of-pearl marquetry work, bowfront case fitted with a dovetailed frieze drawer over single cabinet door, opening to interior with porcelain liner chamber, flanked by open magazine rack slots, rising on tapered legs. Marks / Stamps / Signed: Sarreguemines et Digoin France crown over shield hallmark to porcelain S12 stamped top under marble and back of drawer Jean hand written in pencil underside of drawer Dimensions: (approx) 34" High, 27.75" Wide, 14.5 Deep Versatile: As warm and attractive as it is useful, having the ideal size and proportions for a variety of different uses, including as a bedside cabinet or commode, tall end table, hall console or pier table, bathroom vanity cupboard, sheet music stand, petite buffet server, or stunning accent piece, to name just a few.
