This is a stunning antique French kingwood marquetry Louis XV style bombe chest nightstand. circa 1920 At the time of writing this, we have a similarly styled near match available listed separately (shown in photos of the two). Born in France in the early 20th century, most likely Parisian work, exquisitely hand-crafted solid wood construction, featuring the graceful curves and richly decorated gilt bronze ormolu mounts that Louis XV style is revered for. Stunning book-matched kingwood parquetry-work, exquisite floral marquetry, string banding, and delicate cross-banded inlays that include various species of precious woods (mahogany, rosewood, satinwood, and fruitwood) The shapely bombe-form (bombay) case fitted with three high-quality solid wooden drawers with finished interior, gently undulating scalloped apron, rising elegantly on slender cabriole legs, surmounted with the timeless classic "Rosso Verona" polished marble slab top (salmon color of redish pinkish orange with distinctive whiteish veining) with contoured molded edge and serpentine shaped front. Dimensions: (approx) 30" High, 14" Wide, 11" Deep VERSATILE: Finished on all sides so it can be placed anywhere in the room, and having the ideal size and petite proportions for a variety of uses, including as a guéridon, night stand, chair side table, sofa end table, diminutive bedroom chest of drawers commode, small accent tables or lamp stands to name just a few. CONDITION: This elegantly sophisticated French antique is in great shape overall, especially considering its age of over 100 years old. Strong, sturdy, stable, and structurally sound, with minimal wear consistent with age. There is a slight tonal difference between the two different nightstands if you decide on the pair, also there was at one time a label on the back of one that has left some discoloration, all natural from the sun. Delivered deep cleaned, hand waxed, polished French patina finish, it presents splendidly, with luxurious lustrous sheen, enhanced by nicely aged dark, rich patina over the whole, patinated bronze mounts, and minimal antique character marks.
