About the Item

Unique pair of large bedside cabinets. These beautiful nightstands can really take a bedroom to the next level. This fine quality and handcrafted pair was built to last and they only seem to have become more gracious and impressive with age. This is, because of the warm patina, but also because new nightstands come nowhere near this pair in terms of design, detail and the quality of the workmanship. Most top quality pieces in continental Europe in this period (circa 1900) were custom-made and whomever ordered these nightstands must have had quit a budget. You seldom see nightstands that display a first owners wealth as much as these do. There is the beautiful mahogany, the expensive and detailed satinwood inlay, the handcrafted and probably uniquely cast brass Art Nouveau handles (three different types on each cabinet), the brass fitted legs, the bevelled glass in the doors of the extra cabinet on top......these cabinets are statement pieces. Apart from some minor traces of usage these rare cabinets are in very good condition. They are still as stabile as the day they were made, all doors open and shut perfectly and the insides are also in very good condition. We feel that a person can only truly appreciate and enjoy these stunning and practical nightstands when he or she realizes how much time, effort and talent was needed to design and craft them.
