A Fine French 19th Century Empire Style Mahogany and Ormolu Mounted Crib Cradle

A Very Fine French or Russian 19th Century Empire Style Mahogany, Ormolu Mounted and Parcel-Gildwood Carved Crib & Bedding. The egg-shaped oblong rocking cradle supported at each end by columnar standards.The cradle base conforms to the rocking cradle and is adorned with laurel wreath gild bronze corner crests, all supported on cabriole legs with finely cast gild bronze acanthus leaf mounts. Turned gilded bedding and drapery support having a cast gilt bronze terminal of an eagle holding a ring in its beak. It also includes mattresses, bedding, Irish hand embroidered linens and matching draperies. One pair of Irish linen draperies measures 25" X 124". One pair measures 20" (10" with curtain rod hooks) x 124". Some ormolu bear the letters "P.R."; "N.H"; ":E.J" and other mounts bear what appear to be a name in cyrillic. Circa: 1860-1870. (Maybe earlier).

Feminine and pretty, this pair of single beds and commodes is perfect for any little girls bedroom, for twins, or in a guest bedroom. The beds may be placed side by side to make one large bed. Faux finishing and painting by a top Los Angeles to-the-trade-only master finisher.
The set is faux finished in an aged cream crackle glaze with salmon pink accents, and gold leaf. Headboards are single-caned and footboards are double-caned. (Caning looks dark in photo due to moire pattern.) Bed design accents include acorn finials, carved floral designs and fluting on the legs that match the commodes.
The pair of commodes are adorned with delicately painted floral bouquets tied with french-gray ribbons on the tops and sides. Each commode has 3 drawers and antique brass hardware knobs. Grooved legs have decorative accents at the top and bottom.
