French Hand Carved Wooden Eiffel Tower Model
About the Item
This very decorative model features the iconic Eiffel Tower crafted out of plywood. The architectural models were made by apprentices or master craftsmen to apply for a title by their respective guild.
The Eiffel Tower was built by Gustave Eiffel for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris. At that time many regarded the massive iron structure with skepticism, and a huge controversy erupted at the end of the fair because many people wanted this horrible monument to be dismantled. However, thanks to the relentless efforts of Gustave Eiffel, the tower was never removed. And fortunately, because today, the "Tour Eiffel" serves an important role in visual world culture and is considered an architectural wonder.
This imposing handcrafted sculpture is in excellent condition and at the same time, its warm patina shows its history.
