Decorative Sculpture of a Goddess Holding a Consolidated B-24 Liberator
About the Item
Coming from the house of an Italian WW2 Veteran, the present object is a decorative desk sculpture representing a goddess, possibly Minerva, holding in her hand a faithful reproduction of a Consolidated B-24 "Liberator", the allied heavy bomber that was widely used during the Second World War. According to the veteran who consigned the object, it was made some years after the war to celebrate the allied victory.
Crafted in cast metal, it is a big and elegant piece that, despite its link with war time, will have a striking presence on a desk, bookcase or sideboard. It is well preserved and has a nice, even patina that confirms its age. The plane can be tilted and oriented, and placed in several positions to be better displayed.
